Our Story
Luke's Journey
The path to founding Trail Goods Co. has been as diverse and dynamic as the trails we aim to nourish. With a degree in commercial photography, our founder's journey began with a leap into the unknown, moving to Oahu, Hawaii, where he worked on the television show LOST. This exciting start to his career in film and television was just the beginning of his adventures.
Driven by a deep love for wild places, he left his film career to lead 8-week-long adventure tours across South America. Leading these extreme adventures—rafting, downhill mountain biking, and trekking—only solidified his passion for the outdoors which has begun as a child camping and hiking to endless outdoor places across North America with his family.
Upon returning to the United States, he embarked on a new journey as a long-distance thru-hiker. The idea of walking long and far captivated him, and his first thru-hike took him 800 km across Spain from France on the Camino de Santiago. Hooked on the lifestyle, he moved to Colorado to immerse himself in the outdoor industry, becoming a gear reviewer, social media personality, and outdoor industry consultant.
Living near the mountains became a necessity, not just a choice. In 2020, amidst a canceled Pacific Crest Trail thru-hike, he tackled the 500-mile Colorado Trail, losing 45 lbs due to a lack of nutrition and caloric deficit based on the high output intensity required of such an challenging hike. Shortly after starting the trail Luke found himself not able to stomach the freeze-dried meals that currently existed on the market due to their lack of flavor, and artificial tasting ingredients. This experience highlighted the need for better nutritional options on the trail and inspired him to use his skills to create something new.
Combining his passions for the wilderness, photography, and food, Trail Goods Co. was born. As a passionate foodie, marketing professional, and amateur cook, he set out to create something truly special. At Trail Goods Co., we believe that the best outdoor products come from those who actively participate in the outdoor community and being a brand that isn't run like a big corporation, quite frankly, because we aren't one. Our meals are crafted by outdoor people, with care and love, for everyone to enjoy.
